New Gen Alpha Media Consumption Report: US Kids Shape Household Attention and Spending

78% of Gen Alpha kids aged 2 to 12 in the US use YouTube, eclipsing video-on-demand services (72%) and TikTok (41%). Discover their favorite games, themes and channels plus the influence they have on parents purchasing decisions, especially in Q4!

PARK; The Gen Alpha media consumption habits survey was conducted with 2,000 families in the United States, including kids between the ages of 2 and 12 and their parents. The research also includes a breakdown of preferences across age groups 2-5, 6-9 and 10-12, important specifics for marketers looking to create hyper targeted ads.

Content Preferences Evolve as Gen Alpha Grows Up

The report reveals that as kids get older, the content they like to watch alone and when co-viewing with a parent changes. For younger kids aged 2-5, Cocomelon and Blippi remain favorite co-viewed YouTube channels while Mr Beast leads the way for kids aged 6-12. Interest in Mr Beast continues to grow with an uplift of +14% YOY for the 6-9 age group, and almost +20% YOY for kids aged 10-12.

Gen Alpha Play Mobile Games While Second Screening

Almost half of Gen Alpha carry out other activities such as watching YouTube (46%) while watching TV and mobile gaming makes up an impressive 48% of this secondary activity for all kids.  Mobile gaming continues to be a key interest for the younger generation, growing +13% YOY, alongside climbing interest in YouTube shorts up +14% YOY. Action, adventure and animal & pets style games are favorites for boys while art & colouring, puzzle and dress up mobile games take the lead for girls.
