YouTube Usage for Gen Z Teens Sees Major YOY Uplifts
Teens are viewing YouTube more than ever with the platform seeing a huge 18% YOY uplift in usage compared to 2024. Music, Dance and Comedy YouTube content is most popular amongst teen girls while Gaming is the top content type for boys. Across all content types, YouTube continues to play a strong role in the influence kids have on their parents purchasing decisions.

Gaming Remains a Strong Topic of Interest for Teens
Mobile gaming remains one of Gen Z teens top interests with over 70% playing for at least 30 minutes every day. The PARTY report reveals that teens also enjoy watching others gaming, with 91% of this observer viewing happening on YouTube.

Additional key highlights from the report reveal:
- YouTube Shorts continue to challenge TikTok for short-form dominance, especially among teen boys.
- 67% of parents and 38% of teens recall seeing their last purchase-driving ad on YouTube.
- 69% of U.S. teens use AI platforms, and that number is climbing. ChatGPT (83%) and Google Gemini (67%) lead the pack, with usage driven by schoolwork, creativity, and content creation.
